The Pensions Authority now requires employers to arrange for trustees to receive trustee training with effect from February 1, 2010.

What does this mean for your pension scheme?

  • Any trustee appointed on or after February 1, 2010 has to receive training within six months of appointment and every two years thereafter.
  • Trustees already appointed before February 1, have until January 31 2012 to receive their first training course, and then every two years thereafter.
  • All directors of a corporate trustee must also receive training as set out above. Where a corporate trustees is appointed for the first time after February 1, 2010, all the directors must receive training within six months (and every two years thereafter).
